How long should you soak your lenses in the cleaning solution?

Return

Whether you wear soft or rigid lenses, it is recommended to soak them in disinfectant solution for at least 6 hours, ideally overnight. This ensures a thorough cleaning and optimal comfort for the next day.

Biotrue, Opti-Free, and Renu brands are perfect for soft lenses. For hard contact lenses, we recommend brands from Boston and TotalCare.

It is important to note that some specific products have particular neutralisation times. For this reason, always follow the time indicated on the packaging.

Why is it important to follow the soaking time?

To avoid eye infections, it is essential to clean your contact lenses properly. The solution in which you place them contains disinfecting agents that eliminate germs and bacteria. If you do not let them soak long enough, they will not be properly disinfected, increasing your risk of illness and infection.

A good soak not only improves the cleanliness of the lenses but also their comfort. These products contain agents that retain moisture and remove protein deposits. If they do not soak long enough, they can become dry and uncomfortable.

Our tips for good hygiene

1. Use your product correctly

  • Never reuse the cleaning solution. Always fill your case with fresh solution.

  • Ensure you close the bottle of your product well after each use to prevent contaminants from entering.

2. Maintaining your lens case

  • Clean your case regularly by rinsing it with a new solution. Never use tap water (cold or boiling) as water contains germs that can contaminate it.

  • Replace your case every three months to prevent the buildup of bacteria.

By following these simple tips, you can be assured that your lenses will be comfortable and disinfected. Always remember to check the specific recommendations of your product and consult your optician if in doubt.
